Akiiki and the Bishop's visit

Created by Jacqueline 8 years ago
This is a story most of the grandchildren who lived in Jinja will recall.

One time When the Bishop of Jinja was going to visit our "kabondo"( Zone), Akiiki was in charge of organising the event. At the time Edwin, Moses, Roy, Tootie, Geraldine and Flavia were the grandchildren living with us.

So Akiiki came up with this ridiculous idea of composing welcome songs for the bishop and guess who was going to be in the choir- the 6 grandchildren.
That was not so much of the issue. The real issue was the nature of the songs. Bothe songs were songs originally sung in runyoro and now Akiiki was changing the words into English whilst trying to make them meaningful.

The first song went something like this "Bishooooop Wilgers, tusanyuseenyooo okukulabaaaaaaaaaaa" Obviously the words never fitted in well and that thought eneded there.

The next song was about the problems in the kabondo: " We have the widows, we have the orphans, what are we ( Wait for it ) ....gonna to do". All this time we were trying to get Akiiki to understand that the word "gonna" cannot be followed by "to" so that attempt failed. I think the Grandchildren will help me here because if my memory serves me well, they still went to the function and still sung something. Over to you the grandchildren!
