Now that Oscar has mentioned Akiiki's involvement in charity work, I have just recalled one particular charity ( Popular Mission) who's cause we never quite understood at the time but I believe it involved going to slums in mbuya parish and helping needy people whilst preaching the gospel to them.

What made this particular charity memorable to most of us was the big brown handbag that Akiiki always went with. She insisted that whoever was getting her a bag for a present should make it big enough to carry her bibles! These bags were eventually named "popular mission" after the charity . So if Akiiki said to anyone go get me my bag I'm heading out to popular mission, we new exactly which bag to get, yes you guessed right- that big brown handbag.
